Welcome to the University Guidance office. Our mission statement is to provide students with the information that they need to make informed choices about their post-bac studies outside of France. We will also “hold students’ hands” through the application process itself.

The Guidance office is located to the left of the main entrance of the Agora on the lower end of campus. The windows of the office face the parking lot in front of the Agora.

The services that we offer to American Section students include:
- Presentations to students and parents with general information on what is available and the processes for applications
- Informing students of the practicalities of studying and living abroad
- Keep up to date with the changes regarding applications and fees due to Brexit that impact our students
- Workshops on specific subjects and countries to prepare Premières for applications
- Hour-long appointments with students in première to start the process of choosing courses and universities appropriate to their grades and aspirations (from February onwards)
- Hour-long appointments with students in Terminale to help with online applications
- Individualized help with the application process including personal statements, letters of motivation and application essays
- Ongoing assistance with queries about universities throughout Terminale
- PSAT registration (a preliminary SAT test) and testing at the CIV in October
- Advice on registration for SATs (“Scholastic Assessment Test” – an aptitude test in English aimed at measuring the students’ capacity in comprehension and logic) for the US and Aptitude Tests such as UKCAT, LNAT and TSA for the top UK universities
- Advice on language requirements and tests, (such as TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge…)
- Preparation of bulletins and transcripts for the US, Canada and Holland
- Preparation of letters of reference for universities worldwide
- Liaising and advising our American Section and French colleagues regarding references
- Advising our American Section and our French colleagues with regard to uploading references and completing their sections of online application forms (such as Common App)
- Preparation of other documents required such as Diploma Statements, Language Exemption letters
- Mock interviews for those invited to formal interviews in the UK
- Liaison with universities regarding entry qualifications
- Organising visits, virtual visits, seminars and workshops with universities
- Sending official results to universities at the end of the year.
- Communicating with universities if students don’t achieve the required grades
- Researching online and for new software to continually enhance our offering to students.
- Communicate with universities regarding the OIB and the bac reform – especially with regard to the studying of Maths
- Discuss with students regarding their consideration of options and specialities.
The Guidance staff, when possible, visit universities abroad and attend conferences to keep up with changes and policies such as those surrounding Brexit.
