University guidance The Guidance Department works closely with teachers and families in counselling students in applying for admission to universities worldwide. Information Dissemination: - University prospectuses and application information.
- Visits from university representatives, such as the British University Fair.
- We administer PSAT and inform students about SAT, TOEFL tests and registration procedures.
- We advise students in 2nde on their orientation choices for 1ère and Tle.
- We advise 1ère and Tle students about their future plans following graduation.
- We maintain professional development by attending workshops through organisations such as ECIS - European Council for International Schools.
ASEICA representatives and delegates at the British Universities Open Day University Application Process: - We maintain a Guidance Office with up-to-date university resources and publications, as well as Internet access and relevant computer software to facilitate the application process.
- We advise students in their university selection process worldwide,including British, American, Canadian and European universities.
- We meet with 1ére and Terminale students and their parents to choose appropriate universities and courses.
- We assist students with the application procedures.
- We coordinate university applications,including evaluations, recommendations and transcripts as required.
UNIVERSITY GUIDANCE 2009-2010 1 - ENTRANCE TO BRITISH UNIVERSITITES 2010 Terminale
For entry to Oxford or Cambridge and for applications in Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine in the UK : Application deadline is 15 October 2009. Candidates may not apply to Oxford and Cambridge in the same admission year. An interview is required in December. Students should check carefully to see if they need to take entrance tests such as theThinking Skills Assessment or History Test and make sure they register for these. See Ms Scales. For entry to all other British Universities: Completed UCAS application forms must be submitted electronically via UCAS - Apply to Ms Scales by Friday 30 November 2009 to ensure early dispatch before the UCAS final deadline.
For ALL university applications: Make an appointment with Ms Scales. Terminales have priority this term: see office hours. Students applying for Law may be required to take the LNAT test. Registration immediately in early September 2009. Deadline mid October. Students applying for Medicine must register for the BMAT and/or UKCAT exam. Closing date for registration 26 September 2009.

- March 2010: Centigrade Evaluation. Students can now take this test independently on line. - February/March 2010: Students and parents should begin making appointments with Ms Scales. - April 2010: British Universities Conference - Cinema-Agora CIV. - June 2010: First draft of UCAS application form with choice of 5 universities and personal statement completed and sent to Ms Scales before 15 June. Visit universities where possible during holidays.

Terminale - September 2009: Register for early TOEFL, SAT I and SAT II Tests. Make appointment with Ms Scales re transcripts - October 15 2009: Early decision applications to be filed. - November 1 2009: Take SAT I or II (Register by 10 September). - November 13 2009: Completed final application forms for highly competitive universities submitted to Ms Scales - December 6 2009: Take SAT I or II (Register by 7 October). - January 24 2010: Take SAT I or II (Register by 2 December). - October 18 2009: Take the PSAT-NMSQT. Register with Ms Scales by 22 September. - Feb.-March 2009: Make appointment with Ms Scales.
